Gates and Doors

About the service

A gate or door is both a functional element and a first impression. It’s the boundary between outside and in, between public and private. At re:done, we design and fabricate custom gates and doors that are built to the specific dimensions, materials, and character of the project they serve. Whether it’s a wood and metal entry gate for a commercial property, a carved wood front door for a historic home, or a custom interior door for a renovation, we bring the same craft and intention to doors that we bring to everything else we build.

Exterior Gates

We build driveway gates, garden gates, courtyard entries, and commercial security gates in wood, metal, and combination materials. Exterior gates live outside year-round, so material selection and finish specification matter enormously. We design for longevity and use hardware that won’t corrode, wood species that weather gracefully, and finishes that hold up in Kansas conditions. Structural integrity, alignment, and hardware selection are as important to us as appearance.

Custom Doors

Custom doors allow you to get the exact size, style, material, and hardware configuration you want, which can be particularly important in older homes where standard door sizes don’t fit original openings, or in contemporary projects where a distinctive entry is part of the design concept. We build both interior and exterior doors, and we handle installation and hardware fitting as part of the scope.

Historic and Restoration Work

We have significant experience fabricating historically accurate doors and gates for restoration projects. Period-appropriate joinery, molding profiles, and hardware aren’t just aesthetic details, they’re what distinguishes a careful restoration from a renovation that loses the original character of the building. We have the reference knowledge and the craft skills to get these details right.

Hardware and Finishing

The hardware on a custom door or gate is as important as the construction. We source and install hardware that matches the quality of the piece we’ve built, including properly sized hinges, locksets and latches appropriate to the application, and finishes selected for the installation context. Whether it’s paint, stain, oil, or specialty coating, finishing is applied in our shop under controlled conditions for a result that field-applied finishes can’t match.
