Community Living Renovation
About the service
Community living environments, such as co-housing developments and group residential properties, present a unique set of renovation challenges. Residents live and move through the space while work is happening. Accessibility, durability, and the human quality of the environment matter enormously. At re:done, we approach these projects with the same care and intentionality we bring to residential work, scaled to the complexity of a shared living setting.
Types of Community Living Projects We Serve
We work on common-area renovations, unit updates and remodels, accessibility improvements, kitchen and dining facility upgrades, exterior and site projects, and full facility refreshes. We’re comfortable working within the operational constraints of occupied facilities, and can plan work in phases, protecting residents from disruption, and communicating clearly with facility management throughout the project.
Accessibility and Universal Design
Many community living renovations involve bringing spaces into compliance with ADA requirements. We have experience designing and building accessible bathrooms, wider corridor modifications, ramp and threshold improvements, and grab bar and blocking installations that meet both code requirements and real usability needs. Accessibility done well doesn’t feel institutional, it feels thoughtful.
Durable Finishes for Shared Environments
Materials in community living spaces take significantly more wear than residential environments. We specify commercial-grade flooring, wall protection, cabinetry hardware, and plumbing fixtures appropriate for high-traffic shared spaces. The goal is a finished environment that looks good at ribbon-cutting and still looks good five years later.
A Partner You Can Trust to Follow Through
Community living projects often involve complex stakeholder groups, including ownership, management and residents. We communicate clearly, keep schedules, and take responsibility for coordinating subcontractors and tradespeople. You’ll always know where the project stands.

Signage FabricationA sign is often the first physical impression a business makes. At re:done, we design and fabricate custom signs that are built to last, reflect the character of the business they represent, and work at the scale and context they're installed in. Whether you need an exterior blade sign, a dimensional interior logo wall, or a handcrafted wayfinding system, we approach signage as a craft project, not a commodity.
Gates and DoorsA gate or door is both a functional element and a first impression. It's the boundary between outside and in, between public and private. At re:done, we design and fabricate custom gates and doors that are built to the specific dimensions, materials, and character of the project they serve. Whether it's a wood and metal entry gate for a commercial property, a carved wood front door for a historic home, or a custom interior door for a renovation, we bring the same craft and intention to doors that we bring to everything else we build.
Seating and TablesOff-the-shelf furniture rarely fits a custom space perfectly. At re:done, we design and build custom seating and tables for a variety of applications. We can create custom pieces that fit the specific dimensions, materials, and character of your project. Whether it's a banquette for a restaurant dining room, a farmhouse table for a renovated kitchen, or custom built-in seating for a commercial lounge, we build furniture that belongs in the space it was made for.
